Fly fishing the Frying Pan River near Aspen, Colorado? The Pan is one of the best known tail-water fisheries in Colorado. Be sure and take these tried and true, guide tested quality flies, “River Specific” for the Western River you plan to fish.

For a more secluded area on the Frying Pan you can access it above Reudi Reservoir. The pocket water with occasional pools and runs will provide you with exercise as well as fine scenery and good fishing. Of course the tail-water area is the most popular for those who are going for the bigger fish. There are fourteen miles from Reudi Reservoir down to Basalt. The number of fishermen on the water decreases the further down you go but that’s not necessarily true of the fish. In fact the more consistent hatches are found as you venture further down stream.
