reputed to be the one of the most diverse trout fisheries
in the Rockies, if not the world. You can catch Cutthroats
in
the upper tributaries, float the Gunnison to catch Rainbows
and Browns, or go for trophy size fish on the Taylor River
tributary in the catch and release area. For the hearty,
there is a hike down into the Black Canyon of the Gunnison
for some
secluded fishing. It will certainly be worth spending time
exploring this fine trout fishing area. From the Freestone
River above the town of Gunnison to the confluence with the
North Fork, access is generally very good. Check locally
for special regulations.
